E. SELLING OUTSIDE OF THE BOOKSTORES. Ken
Leebow does it this way.
RESELLERS WANTED AND NEEDED
We're always looking for people to sell
our books. Our books can be sold in almost any environment. For example,
we're currently in hundreds of car wash locations. Believe it or not,
book stores are the worst place to sell books. If you're an author, you
already know this. Anyway, if you're interested, give me a call at 800-690-8123

"PARASITE" is a shorthand
term for “unsolicited commercial software” — that is a program that gets
installed on your computer which you never asked for and which does something
you probably don’t want for someone else’s profit. The parasite problem

I. KEEP THE EXPLORER STATUS BAR FROM DISAPPEARING. Don't you hate it
when you've configured Windows Explorer just the way you like it and then
later find all your changes have been lost? Things like the status bar
and the detail view just seem to disappear after you close the Windows
Explorer. What's up with that? Let's fix it. Here's how:
1.
Right click on the Start button and click on Explore.
2. Configure the Explorer the way you like
it. Set the Details view, the Status Bar and any other customizations
you like. Get everything just the way you want it.
3. Click the Tools menu and click the Folder
Options command.
4. In the Folder Options dialog box, click
on the View tab. In the Folder views frame, click on the Apply to All
Folders button. You'll see an information dialog box telling you that
the changes will take place the next time you option a folder. Click Yes.
5. Click OK in the Folder Options dialog
box.
Now all your settings are saved and you
don't have to do them over again the next time you restart Windows!

E. GOOGLE SPAWNS FROOGLE. Froogle
is a new service from Google that makes it easy to find information about
products for sale online. By focusing entirely on product search, Froogle
applies the power of Google's search technology to a very specific task:
locating stores that sell the item you want to find and pointing you directly
to the place where you can make a purchase.
To use Froogle, go to the "Froogle"
link on the Google's Advanced Search Page or go directly to
http://froogle.google.com/froogle
Type in the name of the item
you want to find and click on "Froogle Search." Almost instantly,
you'll see photos of relevant products and links to the stores that sell
them. Or you may choose to browse through the merchandise categories listed
on Froogle's home page until you find exactly the item you want to buy.
As with all other Google search
results, Froogle ranks store sites based only on their relevance to the
search terms you've entered. Google does not accept payment for placement
within actual search results, and advertising that appears to the right
of Froogle search results is clearly identified with the label "Sponsored
Links."

products listed? See

GET ROLLING IN THE ROUGH
The First Draft: Rough is not ready.
To first-draft your book, take one (chapter)
pile of notes, string them out on your desk in some semblance of order,
and type as fast as you can. Do not be concerned about punctuation, grammar
or style at this point. Just get your notes and research materials into
the machine. You will edit the text later.
As you draft each
chapter of your book, run a quick spell check, print it out and place
it in a three-ring binder.
Weldon Vlasak,
D.Sc., began his book by drafting the introduction. It wasn’t right so
he rewrote it. Then he rewrote it again. Several edits later, he still
was not satisfied. His lack of progress was defeating. Looking at the
book from the beginning and not sure where it was going, he could not
continue; he was not getting anywhere.
Four months later,
he returned to the project by drafting a fascinating chapter—then another
chapter and another. Finally he returned to the Introduction and the words
flowed. The Secret of Gravity and
Other Mysteries of the Universe was born and broke new ground.
adaptent@naix.net
Do not edit any of
the chapters until you rough draft the entire book. If you write, edit,
re-edit, and polish each chapter before going to the next, you will never
make noticeable progress. As you place each chapter into the binder, you will gain a
great feeling of accomplishment. And
do not start at the beginning.
“The beautiful part of writing
is that you don’t have to get it right the first time, unlike, say, a
brain surgeon.”
